[Felix is sitting for this one, his lower body hidden, but the sharp-eyed might notice that his crutch is nowhere in sight. His uniform is also gone for good (for now). He's at the long metal table in his barracks, and the surface is absolutely covered with wires, cables, microchips... It looks like he's dismantled an entire fleet's worth of communicators.

He seems a little annoyed about it.]

Does anyone have a spare computer they could lend me? Or even just a motherboard and a serial port connector cable.

I think I'm starting to get the hang of it now, Doc. I... thank you, really. It's a big improvement.

[Private to Sarah Connor]

You said you're Gaius's Warden, didn't you? We should talk sometime.

[Actually, it hadn't occurred to him, and the possibility of it draws Dean's slightly wandering attention back to Felix's face from beneath a quirked eyebrow. He squints harder through the communicator for a moment, trying to see if there's something obvious about Felix that he missed other than just dressing kind of strangely, but finally he just shrugs.]

Why would I know that?

I thought I told you? I'm not from... Earth. [It's still unsettling as hell that there are actual people here from Earth, a place which is no better than a nuclear wasteland in his time.]

I'm human, of course. [Said quickly, in case Dean shares his problem with those who aren't.] Just a human from a different place.

[This, too, gets several moments of sincere thought from the young hunter, chewing his lower lip as he tries to think through their past two interactions. At last, he shakes his head.]

Sorry, dude. It's a brave new world and all - I doubt either of us is used to thinkin' of people not being from the same planet as us.

[The quickness of that afterthought surprises Dean, and the eyebrow that had been relaxing pops back up with interest. He's confused, but that's mainly because Dean figures he can't possibly be trying to discount what Dean's first thought is to that statement.

He doesn't ask outright; instead, a beat later, he goes ahead with a different plan of action.] What else would you be?

Planets. [It's not really important, but he can't stop himself from correcting it, muttering into the silence. It's not like he's even seen the Colonies in four years, or like they even still exist to be seen, but... whatever. He's Picon, not Saggitaron. It was important, once.

Dean's question makes him tense a little, though; he strains to remain neutral and keep his voice even.] ...Something else. Some of the people on this ship are, didn't you know? I've heard there are even robots here. [And he wants to KILL THEM ALL WITH FIRE alskfjaklfj. But he'll sit quietly and act like he doesn't mind.]

...or... whatever. [It's a clumsy atttempt at a save but Dean tacks a youthful smile on the end to punctuate his planet blunder, because he honestly can't imagine how he managed to screw that one up. Best to just smooth it over with a smile and move on.

Anyway, the second reaction is much more interesting to Dean than the first, and the young hunter's eyes narrow slightly when Felix tenses.] Yeah - I do know some. Not about the robots, necessarily, but other things. They got any of that, where you come from?

[This is how Dean does subtle, yo. Take notes.]

[On Felix's end, there's not really any point to being subtle, since he's been talking about the Cylons from day one -- but he's gotten that he should, at least, be a little more quiet about his blanket judgment of any and all non-humans on board. So he chooses his words carefully, expression grave but largely stoic.]

My universe has a race of... androids, I think they're called on your Earth. [He's been reading the literature. :|] Living robots, so to speak. They attacked humanity -- my people, killed most, and attempted to enslave the rest.

[Dean is in a similar position, albeit with supernatural beings and not androids; he's outnumbered, here, and potentially at the mercy of something he should be hunting for fulfillment of his Warden deal. He'll bend those rules eventually, he can't not, but he's gotta learn how to play 'em straight before he can find the loopholes.

He quirks an eyebrow, but not necessarily disbelieving; his own voice is tight with disapproval over the idea of humans being wiped out by non-humans.]

They sound like real people-toasters. I always knew the internet was evil.

So, you're obviously still kicking around. Humans're hard to put down no matter where they are, huh?

Toasters. [Felix is still all about composure on his end, but he lets out a quiet sound of bemusement at that.] That's what we call them. Not really, of course. Officially, they're known as Cylons. But on Galactica, it's toasters.

Or it used to be, anyway. [Something in his face slips for half a second, but that's something he doesn't quite feel like talking about right now, so he shakes it off and presses on.] And yes, I guess so. I managed to live for four years after the initial attack, and there are still about 36,000 left, as far as I know.

[Dean gives that name some thought, but ultimately has to shake his head; he's never heard of cylons. Not that he's necessarily surprised by this, and he doesn't say anything, but there it is.

The hunter quirks an eyebrow at the slip, but they don't know each other very well, so he lets it go for now, too. Besides, Felix said something else he can jump on for the time being.]

Initial attack? [He repeats, leaning back in his chair. He hasn't got anything else more important to do, no inmate to check on or job to do or brother to wrangle, so he might as well learn someone else's history. It sounds like a whacked out sci-fi movie, though he doesn't say that.] So it's been recent for you. 36k what - humans? Cylons?

If four years could be called "recent," I suppose... Believe me, it feels like a lifetime ago. Five lifetimes. [He rubs the bridge of his nose, looking weary.] 36,000 humans. Frak knows how many Cylons. They were essentially unlimited, until recently. Now they claim they can't reproduce anymore.

[Dean can kinda see that. He raises an eyebrow at reproduce but... he's not really interested in that right now. Maybe soon, for the novelty of it. Instead:]

You said you assisted some President something or other. What's a guy assist the good ol' White House with in a population less than Rhode Island?

[The words are as garbled as ever, but the question is clear enough, and it brings up a bitterness that even Felix's control can't clamp down on easily. Gods, the things he did for President Baltar, the things he watched...]

You'd be amazed.

[Dean's habit of mixing and matching slang has vexed people before Felix, people from his same world, and probably will after; the young hunter hasn't much noticed, then, now, or ever. He shrugs, unfazed.]

Maybe, maybe not. If that shit you were talking about earlier is any indication, though, probably just bored.

So c'mon. Which is it?

Trust me, Dean.

[Which is pretty much said in tones of, the hell drop it or I'm turning off the communicator.]

[Shockingly, Dean does know how to take a hint; he opens his mouth to make some kind of pun, probably, on the wording, but the look on Felix's face stops him. He closes his mouth without saying anything, and glances off screen, one hand coming up to scrub at the back of his neck uncertainly.

Fuck it.]

We don't have androids that I'm aware of, but we got other shit, back where I come from.

[Good boy.] Like what? What sort of, uh... shit?

[Strange. Dean was okay with initiating it as a kind of dismissal, but now Felix actually picked it up instead, because of course one does, and the young hunter finds himself balking.

It's not that he cares whether or not Felix thinks he's crazy (and he probably will). It's just that he was raised not to talk about it unless it's with other hunters.

So he turns the nosewrinkle into a small, sly smile. Maybe Felix will think he's dicking with him for a laugh.]

You know. Stuff. Do they have ghost stories where you come from?
